  • The Job

    The post-holder will work as part of the Youth and Children’s Team to provide activities to meet the needs of the Primary School aged Children in the WPCA catchment area as well as support their families. They will create safe and warm environments for children to come and learn as well as have fun and will work alongside our Youth Team to provide opportunities to help these children reach their potential. The post holder will also take part in general staff meetings which involve prayer times.

    The role is based in the Micah Centre office. Working hours will include Sunday working, occasional Saturday work, daytime and evening work and will require the post-holder to be flexible. Ideally, the post-holder will require a current driving licence and access to a vehicle.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. To oversee and facilitate work with Primary School children, particularly boys.

    2. As part of the staff team, develop a service within the WPCA catchment area that supports and meets the needs of the local children and their families.

    3. Build appropriate networks with local Primary Schools and other agencies.

    4. Work within a budget set by General Manager.

    5. Recruit, support and equip volunteers within WPCA.

    6. Be involved in planning and running WPCA’s Summer Scheme.

    7. Detached work in local Primary Schools to build relationships with pupils and staff.

    8. Be involved in delivering school assemblies when required.

    9. As part of the Children’s team, develop the children’s work that currently takes place within WPCA.

    10. Be involved in the organising and running of WPCA family events.

    11. Take part in and encourage children and parents to join in WPCA family events.

    12. Undertake training identified by management, attend staff meetings and development events.

    13. Adhere to the policies and procedures of WPCA, strictly observing health and safety regulations and the WPCA policy on Child Protection.

    14. To produce materials for teaching different topics for activity groups including Bible study materials.

    15. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post in discussion with management.

    High Kirk Presbyterian Church, Ballymena is seeking to appoint an Office Administrator.   • Seapatrick Select Vestry seeks to appoint a Ministry Associate with special responsibility for Pastoral Care, Discipleship and Worship.

    Our vision is ‘To minister God’s Word in the power of the Holy Spirit in Banbridge and across the world’.

    You will be responsible to Revd Willie Nixon and the Select Vestry Ministry and Mission Sub-Group

    Who are we seeking?

    You will be responsible for Sharing in pastoral care with the Rector and other volunteers, sharing in the teaching ministry as necessary and leading, resourcing and empowering a contemporary music ministry at our services. You will be a competent singer and experienced in leading worship on piano or guitar.

    Job Description

    Depending on your experience and under the oversight and in partnership with the Rector you will be involved in:

    • Pastoral visiting and funeral and bereavement ministry

    • ⁠Assisting with Sunday and midweek services in leading and preaching

    • ⁠Involvement in midweek prayer and helping develop prayer ministry

    • ⁠Introducing the ‘Word One to One’ resource and engaging with men both in the fellowship and beyond

    • The leading, direction and motivation of existing musicians and singers and enlarging this team of volunteers

    • ⁠Pioneering new and creative ways to worship Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit

    • Developing our outreach through Christianity Explored or similar courses for evangelism

    • The planning and shaping of ministry under oversight and in partnership with the Rector

    Person Specification

    • A passionate disciple of Jesus with a love for the Word of God

    • A desire to serve God through the local Church

    • A person whose whole life demonstrates the Lordship of Jesus

    • ⁠A commitment to a private prayer life and a personal devotional life

    • Experience in prayer ministry, in encouraging others in prayer, and in building prayer ministry teams

    • A heart to worship and to release others in worship

    • Experience of leading worship on guitar or piano and building a worship team

    • A heart to see people come to know Jesus

    • Experience in evangelism and discipleship

    • A heart to care for people in the name of Jesus

    • Experience of pastoral care to people of all ages in bereavement, sickness and other life challenges

    • A heart to bring the Word of God to life through careful preparation and faithful teaching and preaching

    • ⁠Experience of teaching the Bible to all ages

    This is a full-time position, with a salary by negotiation of up to a maximum of £31,528 depending on experience.
